Adventures in Japan

As you probably remember, Braddigan and Rey traveled to Japan in June to support the import of Watchfires by Tower Records.  Before the trip, the band put out the blitz to friends and family stateside that they were looking for friends and family in Japan, and the response was overwhelming.  They got on the plane with three shows scheduled and came home six days later having played nine shows!

Rey made it to the opening day showcase in Tokyo with only minutes to spare because he missed his initial flight, and he and Braddigan wouldn’t have a chance to rest until the flight home.  In-store Tower Records performances in Tokyo and Osaka, surf and jam sessions in Chiba, a Young Life event, 3 shows on the US Navy base in Yokosuka, and a boatload of train miles later, and they were back on the plane heading home. It was an amazing debut trip for sure.

Braddigan is going back to Japan from September 21-October 5, this time with both Rey and Tiago!  The band has been invited to play at Interstyle, which is a surf/skate/snowboard tradeshow in Tokyo, among other shows.

The Band

Some of you had the chance to catch the band last spring, but we wanted to make it official today.  The long-awaited day has come and Braddigan has found the dream band. You all know Rey, hailing from Puerto Rico via New York City on percussion, and its with an ear to ear grin that we welcome Tiago, hailing from Brazil via Hawaii and now California on bass, to the family.  Come see the band on the road this fall, or plan a show at your high school, college, community group, church or backyard!

Walking on Water

Braddigan has been in the studio working on the soundtrack for the forthcoming film by Walking On Water.  Braddigan will be producing the original music for the film including a full cast of our closest friends including Tyrone Wells, Braille, Kate Voegele, Nate Allman, and others.

Join two young surfers as they embark on a trip of a lifetime. Imagine if someone would have taken you on a dream trip when you were fourteen years old. Where would you have wanted them to take you? Who would you meet? What do you wish someone would have taught you? Founder and director of Walking on Water, Bryan Jennings, will try his best to give these two young surfers a trip that will change their lives forever.

Braddigan has traveled on location with the crew for the film a few times over the last six months, and believes strongly in the film, the message, and friendships that have been forged from these amazing experiences.

Steelroots TV Show

Braddigan was on location with the Steelroots TV crew and a collection of professional surfers in Nicaragua shooting footage for a reality TV show series that will air this fall.  The show, called Beyond Borders, features Noah Snyder, Jesse Hines, Will Tant, Matt Beacham, Hagan Kelley, Cheyne Cotrell and Braddigan living life in vibrant yet impoverished communities in Nicaragua, surfing and serving.

You’ll see some amazing waves, jam sessions, world cup style soccer with orphans, a trip into a trash dump community, and through it all witness the forming of friendships that will last a lifetime.

Beyond Borders is a series that will begin airing October 9th on the Inspiration Network.

Invisible Children

In April, Braddigan played a benefit show to raise awareness for an activist group called Invisible Children outside of Pittsburg, PA. The next day he flew to Los Angeles to meet up with our good friend, Tyrone Wells, and together they joined over 200,000 people nation-wide on behalf of Invisible Children to participate in the Global Night Commute in honor of the nightly walks to safe quarters by the children of northern Uganda.

Invisible Children is an organization driven by the passion, energy and creativity of youth (the team ranges in age from 18-28), and they are changing the way our country thinks about injustice. They are dedicated to provide financial resources to invisible children by documenting their true, untold stories in a creative and relevant way, resulting in positive change.

Braddigan will be working alongside many other musicians in the coming months to continue driving awareness of this important cause.

Featured Friend: Tyrone Wells

Tyrone Wells is currently featured in a blog and with a song on Braddigan’s MySpace page. This is one name you should get used to hearing!  An amazing talent, dedicated musician and humanitarian, Tyrone Wells is a “hear it now” phenomenon.  He joined Braddigan on a trip to La Chureca in Nicaragua in July and will be touring the country all fall. Soon we'll be announcing shows in Texas and Colorado with Tyrone Wells this winter!
