SHOUTOUTSMaximum-Joy Studios in Northglenn, Colorado is where Brad, Rey, and Tiago did all the recording sessions for their new album, The Captive, due out this fall. The studio is non-profit, surviving on donations—how about that for flipping the industry on its head! NicaHOPE recently partnered with Braddigan in Arlington, Virginia for a benefit concert to raise funds and awareness for the organization's work providing educational opportunities to the people of LaChureca in Managua, Nicaragua. Please check them out and let them know if you dig the work they are doing! LOVE, LIGHT & MELODYLaChureca is home to hundreds of Nicaraguan families. It’s a place like many others where Dads go to work, Moms care for their babies and children play and go to school. But there is one thing about LaChureca that is different than most communities: it’s a garbage dump. On the edge of Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua, there are people living in the most deplorable conditions imaginable. Smoldering heaps of trash, medical waste, animal carcasses and other discarded items produce a toxic smoke that hangs in the air. And everyday, the people of LaChureca make their way through this “Hell on Earth” to scavenge whatever they can find of value, from recyclables to food. But there is a beautiful side to LaChureca; the people! They have a sense of dignity, an attitude of joy and a commitment to their community that is hard to find anywhere else in the world. Their environment is a wasteland but the people of LaChureca are valuable. People and garbage don’t go together — and shouldn’t. Love, Light & Melody is a non-profit organization that has been established by a few people who have been there and want to do something, anything to help. Our focus is on this community, these people. We want to help the people of LaChureca in their current need but we also want to help them prepare for a future free from dependence on other people’s trash. The latest news from Love, Light & Melody... WORD ON THE STREETJedidiah does a lot more than making our teeshirts, they also joined the band in Nicaragua for the Dia De Luz. And check out their store for some of the coolest shirts we’ve ever seen! Cobian is featuring Braddigan’s “Daggers” on their homepage! You’ll also see that they’ve partnered with our friends at The Glue Network—aren’t we all one big, happy family! NicaHOPE partners with Braddigan and Love, Light & Melody to serve the people of LaChureca by empowering them with education. Learn more about the partnership and get involved.
